CNC Operator - We are growing!!!

Job Description

SP Industries is seeking a CNC Operator to program, set up and operate CNC machinery for the fabrication of parts while following drawings, procedures and other written documentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop CNCprograms using SolidCAM for mills based on engineering drawings and models.
  • Configure tools and ensure efficient production.
  • Analyze drawings, blueprints, and design data in order to calculate correct part dimension for machines, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates.
  • Monitor output and proper operation of mechanical equipment. Make mechanical and/or program adjustments to ensure parts are meeting quantity and quality requirements.
  • Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers, fixtures and gauges to check work.
  • Read Instrumentation and gauges to accurately measure dimensions on parts that are being machined within a .001 tolerance.
  • Carry out other duties reasonable within capability as required by the Machine Shop Manager.
  • Suggest changes for improved operations and cost savings.
  • Able to work under own initiative.
  • Flexible, courteous, friendly and positive approach.
  • Discretion, confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.

  • Complete paperwork accurately and in a timely manner as required in the manufacturing process such as: Time and Attendance Sheets, Assembly Routers, Non-conformance Records and Test Records.
  • Follow all safety policies, precautions, recommendations and procedures as may be applicable.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures and work instructions in compliance with SP's Quality Management System.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Skills

  • High School graduate or GED.
  • Associates Degree or Certification in related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience with CNC programming and operating a CNC machine.
  • Experience programming in SolidCAM or MasterCAM.
  • Must have a proficient understanding of G-code and M -code programming.
  • Experience setting up and troubleshooting CNC machines.
  • Able to demonstrate good manufacturing practices and be able to select tooling and machining resources for manufacture of parts.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Blueprint with GD&T reading capabilities.
  • Able to read instrumentation and gauges for measurement purposes.

Work Environment

  • The shop contains mobile equipment, machinery, and high voltages.
  • The shop noise level is variable and may require hearing protection in some areas.
  • The shop is heated when required but many areas are not air conditioned.
  • Some shop processes use high voltage arcs or concentrated magnetic fields.

    • Metric and standard Allen wrench Set

    • Metric and standard wrench set

    • Metric and standard socket set (Basic and 3/8 drive set)

    • Dial calipers, tape measure

    • Screw Drivers
